Packing Time

Posted on

It’s that time again.
Time to pack my bags for a weekend at home in Fort Wayne.  Packing is definitely not on the top of my list when it comes to “things I look forward to doing” no matter how excited I am for the trip.  For some reason, the shorter the trip, the more bags I pack.  I am always worried and stressed that I will forget something.  It’s like I forget that if I forget my toothbrush, there just happens to be a grocery store less than 5 minutes from my parent’s house.

Packing has been slightly easier recently due to the fact that I get ready at the gym every morning.  I just keep all of my “getting ready” stuff in a bag so that when I go to the gym I just grab the bag, which makes it nice to just “grab the bag” while packing for a little trip home.

Breakfast

Breakfast was another smoothie…slightly more attractive than yesterday’s breakfast 😉

A tasty strawberry banana smoothie topped with half of a zucchini breakfast cake for my morning serving of starch, veggies, and a little bit of fat.

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Bowl

  • 1/4 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop Sunwarrior protein powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 packet stevia
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • a little bit of water to get things movin’!

Workout

I decided to make this my rest day!  Usually I take Sundays as my rest day, but since I am heading home I am going to a Body Pump class tomorrow with mom, and I am planning on heading for a run on Sunday.

Another factor in my decision to take this day of rest was the fact that I don’t have to be at work until 11am today!  Seriously, what a better way to start a Friday?  It is kind of like having an adult snow day.  At work, we have an all company sales meeting from 11am-5pm.  The meeting is located downtown, and my office is located North of downtown.  Because I live South of downtown, my boss was kind enough to realize how much unnecessary extra driving going into work would require, so she told me to just go to the meeting.  I didn’t complain one bit!

So, the morning will include getting ready for my trip home, blog stuff, and a little bit of relaxation!

Craft Update

FYI….the craft turned out great!  However, I can’t share pictures…YET!  Don’t worry, you will know soon 🙂

Got to Get My Crafting Hat On

Posted on

Today pretty much felt like Friday all day.  Did anyone else have that feeling?  Whenever I get the Friday bug, it just makes it so hard for me to focus and not want to spend the day pinning on Pinterest!

This morning, I taught my Cardio Intervals class and reused a workout.  Don’t worry, we were all super sweaty with plenty of endorphins kicking in by the end.

Here is a little proof:

Note: the sweaty slicked back hair

I think it’s amazing how quickly I get ready at the gym, when I feel like it takes hours at home!  I guess it’s because there are less distractions, and there really isn’t anything comforting about being in the gym locker room.  After I was showered and ready for work, I seriously felt like a new woman.

Today, my job had me running some errands and meeting some customers (I like days like that best, because sitting in one spot all day drives me nuts!).  Luckily, while I was out and about I got a phone call from my eye doctor letting me know that my contacts were ready to be picked up.

Thank goodness for that, because I have daily wear contacts…and let’s just say I had been stretching my current pair longer than one day.  My eyes will be happy tomorrow to have a fresh batch to pop in!

Dinner

When I got home, I was extremely hungry…as usual.  For some reason I didn’t get anything out of the freezer or plan what I was having for dinner.  I guess I thought it would just magically be made or something when I got home…however that wasn’t the case.  I wanted something quick with protein and veggies, so I made a delicious batch of scrambled egg whites with cottage cheese, low fat cheddar cheese, zucchini, onion, tomato, spinach, and of course topped with a little salsa.

Yum!

Now that dinner is all taken care of, it is time to put my crafting hat on!

I love making crafts, but I have always thought that I am a pretty good copier.  If you give me the template or a sample, I will do a pretty darn good job of making a replica…just don’t ask me to create the original design 😉

During the summers when I was younger, in addition to signing us up for swim team, golf lessons, and summer day camp my mom would buy us a ton of crafts to keep us occupied and out of trouble.

Some favorites:

By the end of the summer, we basically could have opened an art gallery 😉

Questions of the night:

  • Are you good at crafting?  What are your favorite kind of projects?
  • What did you do to keep busy in the summers as a kid?
  • Did you have the Friday bug all day long???

A New Showering Experience and Graduation Season

Posted on

Boy, have I had a busy Friday!  I woke up super early again and started my day with a smoothie made up of a little bit of Greek yogurt, strawberries, spinach, Plant Fusion protein powder, almond milk, ice, and a touch of peanut butter.  I opted for a smoothie because it seems like forever since I have had one, and I was heading to a Body Combat class at 6am and knew that I needed to eat something before hand and didn’t want it to be too heavy sitting in my stomach.  I also knew that I was teaching a spinning class about an hour after Combat, so I needed something that would hold my over.

I’m not gonna lie…my tummy felt a little full during Body Combat.  Don’t get me wrong, I was still able to perform well, I would have just preferred a lighter feeling in the tummy region.  All in all it was still a great class.

I woke up early so that I could put the finishing touches on some crafting I had been up to.  Today, two of my good friends had their hooding ceremony for their health professional programs.  Maelyn, is now (I guess officially tomorrow after graduation) a Physician’s Assistant (hence the PA) and will be moving to Houston, TX next month!

And Caitlin, who lives just below Brian and I, will be a pharmacist as of tomorrow (hence the Rx sign).

I am so proud of them, and although it has been a long journey, I can’t believe how quickly it has gone.  They are both super smart and are going to rock their brand new careers!

After teaching my spinning class, I did something that I have never done before.

I showered at the gym.

And it wasn’t too bad!  I was able to get completely ready in 30 minutes…I don’t know about you, but for me 30 minutes is pretty darn quick.

I then drove to Butler for the hooding ceremony and snacked on an apple that I had stashed in my bag.  Thank goodness I packed that because as the ceremony went on, my hunger continued to grow.

It is such a perfect day outside for celebrating these ladies’ huge accomplishments!

After the ceremony, I came home and quickly made myself lunch.  A nice large salad topped with salsa, plenty of veggies, cottage cheese, and an unpictured side of celery and peanut butter. Delish!

Now, I am off to tackle some things on the to-do list so Brian and I can have fun tonight!

Questions of the Day:

  • Have you ever showered at the gym?  Was your experience pleasant? Any funny stories?
  • What is your record “get ready” time (ladies only for this one!)
