Strawberry 3 Times!

Posted on

After showering and getting ready at the gym this morning, I tried something new.

A Tropical Strawberry flavored Shakeology drink.  I received the sample in the mail a couple of weeks ago and thought now would be as good of a time as any to try it out.  I simply poured the mix into 8 oz of water in my bottle, shook it up…got a little on my shirt and drank it on my way to work.

It tasted pretty good!  I think it would be better mixed in things like protein pancakes, smoothies, or bars simply because of the slightly gritty texture due to the rice bran protein, but I enjoyed it and drank the entire thing!

Although the ingredients list is long, there are a lot of nutrients, vitamins, and super foods crammed into that little packet.  It was a tasty treat that I will have to consider getting more of.  I wonder how the chocolate flavor tastes??

I must have been in a strawberry mood, because I have had them three times today!

For lunch, I mixed chopped strawberries, chopped mixed nuts, reduced fat feta, red onion, canned salmon all on top of some green leaf lettuce.  I then drizzled the tasty salad with a little bit of balsamic vinegar.  Seriously, I think I have a new favorite summer lunch.

I hope that your day is going well, time to get back to work!

Puppies Galore!

Last night, Gucci, the little dog that Brian and I are dog sitting was giving Brian some lovin’ on the couch.  Brian had a rough day and Gucci knew just what would make him feel better.

I have said it in the past and I will say it again, Brian and I would LOVE (especially Brian) to get a dog, but with Brian still being in school and our schedules being totally wacko, now is just not the time…but someday!

Today, I had a bowl of hot oats because it is C O L D outside!  Literally, it froze last night.  I simply don’t understand how one day we are wishing that the pools were open and then the next day we are bundled up in jackets and sweaters.  I guess that is Indiana weather for ya!

My oats contained Sunwarrior, vanilla extract, strawberries, and 2 tsp of peanut butter.  They definitely hit the spot 😉

Special Meeting

I have always known that I want to go on to further education, but for what…well that is where the problem arises.  One idea that has come into my mind in the past and recently is to become an R.D. or registered dietician, so today I am meeting with one!  I am very excited to pick her brain and see how her answers will aid in my decision making process.  It should definitely be helpful.

More Puppies

Today, I also begin dog-sitting for the family that I nannied for last summer.  That means that Brian will be dog-sitting Gucci, while I dog sit Oliver and Sophie!  So many puppies!  It should be fun though.

Daily Workout

I then plan on attending a group fitness class at Butler this evening, so no morning workout today!

I hope you all have an amazing Tuesday!

Don’t Cry Over Spilled Eggs

This morning, I started out with a quicky boot camp style workout that I used to teach on the cruise ship, but I added in some jumping jacks and finished it off with my favorite abdominal youtube video.

I then showered up to get ready for the day, and while I was making breakfast for Brian, this happened:

Oops!! There goes the rest of our eggs!  Luckily, I had already started making Brian’s eggs 😉  otherwise he would have been out of a breakfast!  Looks like I will need to run to the store today…

Also luckily, I was not planning on having eggs this morning because I had prepared my morning meal last night.

Overnight Oats!

Strawberries and Cream Overnight Oats

  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup Almond Breeze
  • 1 scoop vanilla pea protein powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix will.  Set in the refrigerator overnight, uncovered.  In the morning, chop up one cup of strawberries (I used frozen) and combine all together.

It will taste like heaven in a bowl 🙂

I have a couple of things to get done around the apartment, but then later this morning, I am meeting with my sister to help her go apartment shopping.  I haven’t seen her in over a week, so it will be great to spend time with her on another sunny, hot day in Indianapolis.  (I think the weather man said that the high today beats the high in ORLANDO, FL!!!)  Overall, today is pretty full.  I have another meeting later this afternoon, and this evening, Brian and I are headed to Happy Hour at the Symphony…two of my favorite things smashed together in one event.

Have an amazing hump day!

Half Marathon Training
After teaching class, today I was scheduled to run 3.5 miles.  I mapped my run out and was ready to go.  I put my teaching stuff in my car, and I realized that I had no where to put the key…I had to get a little crafty.

I tied my key to my shoe!

It was sooo hot and humid outside that the end of the run was prrrrreettyy rough, but I got through it.  I drank soo much water afterward.
I then came home and it was time for dinna!
I made a strawberry, chicken, blue cheese salad.  Instead of using glazed almonds or pecans like I usually see in restaurants, I used honey roasted peanuts.  They did the trick and added that little extra crunch.  I put all of these yummy toppings on top of a bed of romaine and spinach and topped it with Balsamic vinegar, garlic salt, and pepper.  This salad was dddeeelliish!
At night while making dinner, I pack a lunch for Brian and usually myself as well.  Since we had blue cheese with dinner, Brian was really cravin’ blue cheese in his lunch tomorrow.  I used leftover chicken from dinner to create Buffalo Chicken Salad.
I mixed together the following ingredients (the measurements are estimates because I was just pouring and mixing):
  • 1 chicken breast cut up into small pieces
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 2 tbsp of mayonaisse
  • 2 tbsp of reduced fat blue cheese
  • Frank’s Red Hot Sauce to taste
  • Salt and Pepper
Makes roughly 2 servings
Now Brian and I are just relaxing and watching Everybody Loves Raymond…I haven’t seen that show in forever!!  It feels nice to just sit here on a Tuesday night 🙂

Father of the Bride

Posted on

The sun really wore us out!  Brian took a long nap before dinner, but I took mine during the movie we watched with mom.  I don’t know about you, but for some reason whenever a movie is turned on my eyes just get heavier and heavier until I finally just give up and doze off.  (That was not the situation with Case 39)  We watched “Father of the Bride” because I had never seen it before, and with all of this wedding planning happening it seemed appropriate.

I guess I’ll have to re-watch it in the morning.  That is just when I function best!

For dinner, my mom made a little make-it-yourself Mexican bar, and I made guacamole to go with it.  I made a large Mexican salad with refried beans, lettuce, cheese, onion, tomato, salsa, and of course…guac!

I used to not care for guacamole, but I think that it had more to do with the fact that it looks strange and I had never tried it.  It just goes to show, don’t judge a book by it’s cover 😉

My brother and sister are also home this weekend, so for a little while we caught up with Kenny’s latest films and checked out Brenna’s new hair style.  She currently has a brunette mohawk with blonde highlights…literally something different every time I see her, but that’s what I love about her!

Mom made a special dessert for us to enjoy during the movie.  Strawberry shortcakes with vanilla ice cream!  I just love the taste of strawberries in the summer, and the shortcakes were the perfect balance to the tart berries.

Since I have a movie to watch in the morning before heading back to Indy, I better head to bed!

Smoothie Break

Posted on

This morning started off great!  I was able to wake up on time, and do an abs workout since I will be teaching spinning tonight.  Instead of a smoothie I had Greek yogurt for breakfast this morning.  I had half of a small container mixed with one tablespoon of peanut butter, a sweetener packet, 3 strawberries, and 1 tablespoon of honey roasted soy nuts.   Pretty tasty if you ask me!

Since we went to the mall yesterday for Sarah, today we are going to Hobbytown USA for Jeremy.  I have never been there, so I am looking forward to checking it out.

Today is kind of like my Friday because tomorrow I don’t work and I will be heading home to Fort Wayne with Brian.  We also have another venue appointment tomorrow morning!  Can’t wait 🙂
